The Sun Temple of Elizabeth Diamond
CHAMBER III - The Art Gallery
The Sunflower
This is one of Elizabeth’s last paintings completed several days before her transition.
Here again we view that yellow golden color contained in the flower. It’s as if though the center of the flower resembles a single eye with it’s orange iris and black pupil. The petals of the flower resemble a head.
This is the only flower who’s head follows the suns trajectory across the sky from sunrise to sunset each day. Hence, Elizabeth’s inscription on the painting states “Daily the sunflower follows the sun in it’s course across the heavens.”

The deeper meaning of this painting:
Elizabeth’s interpretation of this painting is contained in the bottom inscription which states “I follow the sun of my mighty I am Presence.” Here she reminds us of our connection to the sun which represents light, or our awareness that we are more than the physical self. We have a higher presence within us that ignites life and energy for us. Perhaps Elizabeth’s awareness of her short lifespan motivated her to say to all of us, to follow the sun of our being through the legacy of work she’s left behind.
