The Sun Temple of Elizabeth Diamond

CHAMBER III - The Art Gallery

Becoming Buddhas

Here we see half the face of Buddha, with a full portrayal of the lotus flower. This according to Elizabeth, symbolizes the process of becoming a Buddha or enlightened one. Here again the lotus represents the awakening of the inner self.

Many of us received this print on the last night of Elizabeth’s awareness of her physical world before she lapsed into unconsciousness.

The deeper meaning of this painting:

In her journal of November 2012 under the title ‘the way of the Buddha’ she states, “The world is filled with pain and sorrow, but I found a serenity that you can find too. Everyone understands suffering. We share it with all others, but we need to find out how to make this alright and be at peace with it.

We need to open up to the blissful nature of our true reality in each moment, appreciate what is showing up, appreciate beauty everywhere, and appreciate the people in our lives of kindred spirit. Meditation as Buddha instructed us, lifts us beyond our suffering to understand it’s purpose and live more freely. Buddha also reminds us to monitor our thoughts as ‘All we are is the result of what we have thought.’ ”
